Rosa Maria Acosta
July 16, 1951 - May 3, 2020
Rosa “Rosita” Maria Acosta, passed away in her sleep May 3, 2020, at the age of 68 years. Rosa was a resident of South Paterson, NJ for 25 years. She is survived by her daughters, Rosalina Pagan and Nathalie Pagan-Medina, her sons-in-law, Edhardo Robles and Perry Medina, her five grandchildren, Miguel, Jonathan, Jayden, Phoenix and Juno, and her two brothers, Eduardo and Alberto. Rosa was born on July 16, 1951 in Medellin, Colombia to Felix and Rosa Gonzalez. She was the youngest of five children and a beloved baby sister to Eduardo, Alberto, Ricardo and Amparo. At the age of 21, thanks to her older sister, Rosa immigrated into the United States. In the Bronx, NY, she began a career in hospitality and enjoyed her new independent life. Together with Orlando Pagan, Rosa brought forth two daughters, Rosalina and Nathalie. Her greatest joy and pride was raising her family with boundless love. Rosa later began her career as a home health aide, which allowed her to engage in her greatest passion - caring for others. During her leisure time, Rosa loved to spend time with family, friends, and neighbors. She was never short of a story and loved the company of all. Rosa was known for her sense of style, always looking her best whether walking the dog or attending services at her beloved church, Igleslia de Dios Pentecostal in Paterson, NJ. She was a firm believer in the word of God and in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Her faith influenced how she lived her life and how she treated others always with kindness and generosity. Her actions and words all reflected her love for God and his children. Rosa found solace and reward in helping others and offering up resources and advice to assist others in need. While her generosity defines part of her legacy, Rosa also possessed a broad perspective that helped guide her life and the lives of her children and extended family. Rosa’s extended family and friends will miss her beautiful presence, and her grandchildren will miss her warm hugs and grandma kisses. We are comforted to know she has gone to her promised home with God. Rosa’s limited service will be at Scillieri-Arnold Funeral Home on 351 5th Avenue in Paterson, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please do as Rosa would have done; share a plate with a person in need, smile at all you see, and act with love and kindness. If you feel compelled to commemorate her passing with a gift, please donate to your local food pantry and/or place of worship in her memory.
