María Sara Reboredo Nieto

On January 14th, 2022, María Sara Reboredo Nieto of North Haledon, NJ passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 99 in her home. María Sara was born on September 7th, 1922 in the picturesque village of Quintáns in Galicia, Spain, to Manuel Reboredo Romero and Manuela Nieto Barbazan. She raised 2 children, Rosa and Manuel, in her family’s heirloom home, which has proudly stood for generations. She was nurturing, patient, gentle, and caring, and as a natural caregiver, cared for many of the children of Quintáns as if they were her own. From 1976 through 1977, María Sara, together with her daughter Rosa, cared for her young grandson, Jorge, in Quintáns, who was born in 1974. In 1977, she immigrated to the United States with her daughter, Rosa, following her son, Manuel. For more than a decade, she worked various jobs in Paterson and the surrounding area. Shortly thereafter, María Sara and her daughter, Rosa, purchased a home together in Paterson, where they lived together for several years before moving to North Haledon. María Sara continued to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Juan Bautista, helping to care for her grandson, Juan Antonio, born 1991. María Sara loved gardening and yard work, and she enjoyed tending to the garden with her daughter, Rosa. Together, they cultivated countless flowers, vegetables, herbs, and fruit trees. María Sara traveled to Spain every summer with her grandson, Juan Antonio. The bond they shared through this experience was truly special. María Sara was a woman of deep faith and spiritual devotion, and attended her church in Galicia, Igrexa de Santa María de Urdilde, regularly. María Sara is predeceased by her father, Manuel Reboredo Romero, and mother, Manuela Nieta Barbazan, as well as her son, Manuel Quintans Reboredo. Left to celebrate her life and memory are her beloved daughter Rosa Quintans Sambade (Juan Bautista); grandsons Jorge Quintans (Jennifer) and Juan Antonio Sambade (Becky); cherished great-grandchildren Jorge and Isabela Quintans; and many friends and neighbors. María Sara was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to many. She shared many deep and lasting friendships with her friends and neighbors. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Services for María Sara will take place at Scillieri-Arnold Funeral Home on Monday, January 24th, from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will follow in Galicia, Spain at Igrexa de Santa María de Urdilde. María Sara nació el 7 de septiembre de 1922 en el pintoresco pueblo de Quintáns en Galicia, España, de Manuel Reboredo Romero y Manuela Nieto Barbazan. Crió a 2 hijos, Rosa y Manuel, en la casa reliquia de su familia, que se ha mantenido con orgullo durante generaciones. En 1977 emigró a los Estados Unidos con su hija Rosa, siguiendo a su hijo Manuel. Durante más de una década, trabajó en varios trabajos en Paterson y sus alrededores. Poco después, María Sara y su hija Rosa compraron una casa en Paterson, donde vivieron juntas durante varios años antes de mudarse a North Haledon. María Sara siguió viviendo con su hija y yerno, Juan Bautista, ayudando a cuidar a su nieto, Juan Antonio, nacido en 1991. A María Sara le encantaba la jardinería, y disfrutaba cuidar el jardín con su hija, Rosa. Juntos, cultivaron innumerables flores, verduras, hierbas y árboles frutales. María Sara viajaba a España todos los veranos con su nieto, Juan Antonio. El vínculo que compartieron a través de esta experiencia fue verdaderamente especial. María Sara fue una mujer de profunda fe y devoción espiritual, y asistía regularmente a su iglesia en Galicia, Igrexa de Santa María de Urdilde. María Sara es antecedida en muerte por su padre, Manuel Reboredo Romero, y su madre, Manuela Nieta Barbazan, y por su hijo, Manuel Quintans Reboredo. Quedan para celebrar su vida y memoria su amada hija Rosa Quintans Sambade (Juan Bautista); nietos Jorge Quintans (Jennifer) y Juan Antonio Sambade (Becky); queridos bisnietos Jorge e Isabela Quintans; y muchos amigos y vecinos. María Sara fue una madre, abuela y bisabuela amorosa y cariñosa para muchos. Compartió muchas amistades profundas y duraderas con sus amigos y vecinos. Todos los que la conocieron la extrañarán mucho. Los servicios para María Sara se llevarán a cabo en Scillieri-Arnold Funeral Home el lunes 24 de enero de 6:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. Los servicios funerarios seguirán en Galicia, España en Igrexa de Santa María de Urdilde. Por sus deseos, María Sara será sepultada aquí, en el terreno del cementerio de su familia junto a sus amados familiares.
