Juanita “Cissy” Pierce-Madyun was born on September 3, 1955, in Hackensack, NJ to the late James Pierce and Dorothy Wiggins-Pierce. She gained her wings on November 1, 2021, at Capital Health Regional Medical Center, Trenton, NJ. Juanita attended and graduated from Paterson Public School #24 and Eastside High School (Mighty Ghost). Cissy formerly worked at Kim’s Spray as an Office Assistant, McDonald’s as a Manager, Marcy’s Convertible Tops as a Seamstress, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Paterson, NJ as a CNA, Newark Liberty Airport as a Ticket Collector, and an Independent Seamstress. Cissy LOVED reading and studying the Qur’an, Bible and Torah and educating people on our black history. When she was younger, she Modeled and studied Ballet for many years on 8th Avenue in Manhattan. At an early age Cissy also took an interest in sewing. Mrs. Blanche Gibson taught her everything she knew about sewing and Cissy fell in love with making her own clothes and clothes for her families. Her family was very proud to wear her one-of-a-kind garments. Cissy was well known for her Fashion, Style, and Beauty inside and out. Juanita was predeceased by her mother; Dorothy Wiggins-Pierce and father; James Pierce, Sr., husband; Daanyaal Madyun, Sr., brothers; Claude “Earl” Wiggins and James “Lonnie” Pierce, Jr. Cissy leaves to cherish her fond memories to her sons; Akinyeme “Chink” Pierce of Paterson, NJ, Antar Tamir Pierce of Harlem, NY and Daanyaal Madyun, Jr., of Trenton, NJ., granddaughter; Genuine Fuller of Paterson, NJ and grandson; King Aamir Pierce of New York, sisters; Peggy Nixon of Paterson, NJ, Rose Carmichael of North Carolina, Jeanette Pierce-Gibson of Paterson, NJ, brothers-in-law; Artie Nixon, Kenneth Carmichael, Sr., John Gibson and Darryl Chavers, brothers; Tony Pierce of Paterson, NJ, Clarence Pierce of Passaic, NJ and Lemar Pierce, Sr. of Paterson, NJ, sisters-in-law; Curdel McFarlane-Pierce, Miriam Pierce and Renee Williams, best friends; Linwood “Bubbie” Butler and Patricia Wheeler-Ingram and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Even during times of social distancing, anyone who has suffered a loss deserves love and support more than ever before.
