Alberto Donado passed away on September 17, 2021 with his family by his side. He was 82. Alberto was born on April 30, 1939, in Barranquilla, Colombia to Alberto Donado Tejera and Adela De La Torre. One of 6 children, Alberto grew up playing fútbol (soccer) with friends and enjoying early morning swims at the beach. Alberto graduated from Colegio Colón and worked as an accountant in Colombia. He married Mélida Moré in March of 1959 and then started a family. Alberto and Mélida immigrated to the United States in 1981 where they settled in Paterson, NJ. Alberto enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards and board games, watching fútbol (soccer), while always cheering for the Colombian National team. He was also an avid baseball fan, unabashedly rooting for the Mets! In the summers he could be found grilling for family and friends. Papito, as he was known by his entire family, was a devoted grandfather to his 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was an active member of his Church, The Chapel at Wayne. Alberto was predeceased by his parents and siblings Rafael and Alex. He is survived by his spouse, 7 children: Martha, Alberto, David, Rafael, Alvaro, Adela and Javier; his 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and his sisters Ruth, Nayibe and Buena. Alberto Donado falleció el 17 de Septiembre de 2021 rodeado por sus hijos y nietos. Alberto nació el 30 de Abril de 1939 en Barranquilla, Colombia en el hogar de Alberto Donado Tejera y Adela de la Torre. Era uno de sus seis hijos. Creció jugando fútbol con sus amigos y disfrutaba de paseos frecuentes a la playa. Asistió al Colegio Colón y se desempeñó como contador. Contrajo matrimonio con Mélida Moré en Marzo de 1959 de cuya union nacieron 5 hijos. Alberto y Mélida emigraron a los Estados Unidos en 1981, y se establecieron en Paterson, Nueva Jersey. Alberto disfrutaba pasar tiempo con sus amigos, jugar a las cartas y juegos de mesa, ver fútbol, siendo sus equipos preferidos el Junior de Barranquilla (Tu Papá!) y la selección Colombiana. También era un ávido fanático del béisbol y apoyaba a los Mets incondicionalmente! Durante los veranos, se le podía encontrar haciendo barbacoas para su familia y amistades. Papito, como lo conocía toda su familia, fue un abuelo devoto para sus 20 nietos y 14 bisnietos. Fue un miembro activo de su Iglesia, The Chapel at Wayne. Su fallecimiento fue precedido por el de sus padres y hermanos Rafael y Alexander. Le sobreviven su esposa, 7 hijos: Martha, Alberto, David, Rafael, Alvaro, Adela y Javier; sus 20 nietos,14 bisnietos y sus hermanas Ruth, Nayibe y Buena.
